Kept privacy policy

Last updated October 31, 2026

Kept is an app in early testing that saves Instagram reels. Its Instagram account, @ai.kept, receives reels that people send it by direct message, so they can find them later in the Kept app. Right now only the people building Kept use it.

What we collect

When you send a direct message to @ai.kept, Instagram delivers it to our server. We store:

If you join the waitlist on keptreels.com, we store your email address and when you joined, and nothing else about you.

We don't receive your password, profile, followers, or any message you didn't send to @ai.kept. This page uses no cookies or trackers.

How we use it

To show the reels you sent in the Kept app, and to read them. To find a public reel's video, our server opens the reel on Instagram without logging in and gives the video's link to the Kept app, which downloads it to your phone. To read a reel, our server sends its caption, its cover image, small still frames a few seconds apart and the words said in it to Anthropic's Claude API, which returns the reel's name, type and details. When the caption links to the recipe's own page, Claude also reads that page. Videos themselves are never sent. We use a waitlist email only to tell you when Kept is ready to download. We don't sell any of it, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone else. It's stored with Amazon Web Services in the United States.

How long we keep it

Messages are kept until you ask us to delete them. A shared project is kept until you make it private again in the app, which takes its page down straight away. A waitlist email is kept until you leave the waitlist, or until we've told you Kept is ready, whichever is first. Server logs, which record message IDs but not their content, are deleted automatically after 30 days.
